Golfers battled tough weather conditions while competing in the DuPage County Junior Classic at Maple Meadows golf course in Woodale, Ill. on May 3-4.

Quinlan Prchal from Glenview, Ill. led the field of 77 players in the Boys 12-14 division.  Prchal led after the first round with an even-par round of 70.  He maintained his lead the second day, firing a one-under-par 69 during the final round, which included three birdies.

The top of the leaderboard did not see much movement as Jordan Niebrugge finished the second day where he started, in second place.  Niebrugge shot a two-day total of 147 (74-73).  Connor Nelson from Roscoe, Ill. also held his position in third with a consistent pair of 76s for a two-day total of 152.

 Brian Bullington (79-74), Joshua Stefanski (77-76) and Nick Robles (74-79) all shared fourth place at 153. 

Ashley Armstrong from Flossmoor, Ill. captured first place in the 33-player field of the Girls 12-18 division.  Armstrong, the 2007 IJGA Player of the Year, fired a two-day total of 147, shooting a one-under-par 70 in the final round.

Going into the second round, Armstrong held the lead by one stroke.  During Sunday's round, she turned with a front side score of one-over 36, but dominated the back nine with three birdies, carding a two-under 34.  This excellent play allowed Armstrong to widen her lead and claim first place by eight strokes.

Chelsea Harris from Normal, Ill. took second with a two-day total of 155 (78-77), while Gianna DiGrazia from Addison, Ill. was one shot back with a two-day total of 156, earning her a third place finish.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members, conducting educational clinics and events while acting as a junior golf informational clearinghouse. One of the largest and most comprehensive junior associations in the United States, the IJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 7-18) of approximately 2200.

The Association is served and governed by a Governing Board of Directors comprised of 15 volunteers including four (4) representatives of both the Illinois Section of the PGA (IPGA) and the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA). Additional Board members are selected based on their commitment to junior golf and include parents, representatives from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the Illinois Coaches Association (ICA), college golf coaches and community leaders.
