Six to nine-year-old YDP members enjoyed a great day of golf on Wednesday, June 11, at the Golf Center in Des Plaines, Ill. The junior golfers played the 9-hole par 3 course on a beautiful 75 degree, sunny day.
And those youngsters took advantage of the great weather with some outstanding scores. Thomas Calbi (South Barrington, IL) was low for the day with a phenomenal round of five-over-par 32.
Ryan Magee (Hawthorn Woods, IL) was only two strokes behind the leader with a 34. Magee’s great score included a birdie on the eighth hole. Michael Adler (Winnetka, IL) rounded out the top three finishers with a great score of 36.
Gianna Furrie (St. Charles, IL) carded the low round of the day for the girls, with a great round of 37, which included a birdie on the fourth hole. Myah Jackson (Chicago, IL) placed second in the Girls division with a 47.
The next YDP 6-9-year-old event will be held on June 18 at Silver Lake Country Club.
The Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members, conducting educational clinics and events while acting as a junior golf informational clearinghouse. One of the largest and most comprehensive junior associations in the United States, the IJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 7-18) of approximately 2200.
The Association is served and governed by a Governing Board of Directors comprised of 15 volunteers including four (4) representatives of both the Illinois Section of the PGA (IPGA) and the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA). Additional Board members are selected based on their commitment to junior golf and include parents, representatives from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the Illinois Coaches Association (ICA), college golf coaches and community leaders. |
