Torrential rains threatened to cancel the entire Regional event on Thursday at Chapel Hill GC in McHenry, IL, but the golfers were determined to play.

Play got underway at 7 a.m. but soon after, the golfers were pulled off of the course due to strong rains and lightning. After a long rain delay, the golfers were finally taken back out onto the course, but unfortunately the storm had done its damage. Two holes on the backside were completely flooded and unplayable, so the event was turned into a nine-hole event.

The soggy conditions proved challenging for the field, as only a handful of scores crept into the 30s. Philip Purcell (Winnetka, IL) was low for the day with a two-over-par 37, which included three birdies. Luke Wagonner (Lakewood, IL), Patrick Schuetz (Barrington, IL) and Jordan Stein (Glencoe, IL) all tied for second with 39s. Wagonner won the playoff for second, while Schuetz and Stein tied for third in the Junior Boys division.

Josh Ok (Libertyville, IL) carded the low round for the Senior Boys division, with a four-over-par 39. Stefan Johnson (Williams Bay, WI) was one stroke back of Ok, claiming second place with a 40. Jeffrey Davis (Glen Ellyn, IL) and Daniel Parks (Mt. Prospect, IL) tied for third with a pair of 41s.

Lynn Dresilker (Wheaton, IL) and Marina Karamanis (Barrington, IL) tied for first in the Senior Girls division with a pair of 43s. Dresilker won first place in a playoff. Ashley Smith (Johnsburg, IL) placed third with a 45.

Alexandra Kessler (Buffalo Grove, IL) fired the low round for the Junior Girls with a 44, while Erin Schneider (Elgin, IL) took second and Rebecca Norris (St. Charles, IL) placed third.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members, conducting educational clinics and events while acting as a junior golf informational clearinghouse. One of the largest and most comprehensive junior associations in the United States, the IJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 7-18) of approximately 2200.

The Association is served and governed by a Governing Board of Directors comprised of 15 volunteers including four (4) representatives of both the Illinois Section of the PGA (IPGA) and the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA). Additional Board members are selected based on their commitment to junior golf and include parents, representatives from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the Illinois Coaches Association (ICA), college golf coaches and community leaders.
