Intermittent rain stuck with the more than 100 golfers who played at the Bartlett Hills Regional on Monday.  But the rain wasn’t enough to stop some phenomenal scoring from taking place.

Jack Watson (Lincolnshire, IL) was low for the day with an one-over-par round of 72.  Watson’s impressive round, which included two birdies, earned him a first place finish in the Junior Boys division.  Weston Apple (St. Charles, IL) and Keegan O’Rahilly (St. Charles, IL) were three shots behind Watson with a pair of 75s.

Brad Weiss (St. Charles, IL) took first place in the Senior Boys division with a three-over-par round of 74.  Weiss’ had five birdies on the day, including three straight coming into the stretch on 16, 17, and 18.  Brendon Jones (St. Charles, IL) and Trace Pomplun (Bartlett, IL) were right on Weiss’ heels with a pair of 77s.

Melanie Walsh (Mt. Prospect, IL) was the only girl to break into the 70s, firing a 79 for the day.  Nicole Bronson (Carol Stream, IL) and Chelsea Kellogg (Des Plaines, IL) rounded out the top three finishers for the Senior Girls division.

Katy O’Malley (Wilmette, IL), hot off of last week’s regional finishes in first and second, claimed victory, yet again, in the Junior Girls division with an 86.  Christy Taugner (Chicago, IL) finished four shots back of O’Malley to finish in second, while Karly Grouwinkel (Mt. Prospect, IL) rounded out the top three.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members, conducting educational clinics and events while acting as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.  One of the largest and most comprehensive junior associations in the United States, the IJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 7-18) of approximately 2200.

The Association is served and governed by a Governing Board of Directors comprised of 15 volunteers including four (4) representatives of both the Illinois Section of the PGA (IPGA) and the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA).  Additional Board members are selected based on their commitment to junior golf and include parents, representatives from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the Illinois Coaches Association (ICA), college golf coaches and community leaders.
