Saturday's first round play at the DuPage County Junior Classic at Oak Meadows Golf Club in Addison, Ill. proved to be exhausting for the players as they not only had to battle the golf course, but also 20-30 mph winds, rain, and frigid temperatures.

Theodore Lederhausen from Hinsdale, Ill. and Matt Buse from Loveland, Ohio led the 113 player field after the first day, both carding even-par rounds of 71.

Players got a reprieve from bad weather during Sunday's final round, as the temperatures rose to 65 degrees, the winds calmed to 10 mph and the sun came out.  The improved weather gave players in the field a lot of scoring opportunities, as there was a lot of movement at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.

"I think we were all happy with the decision to play mark, lift, clean and place in your own fairway, because the ball was picking up a lot of mud from the rains on Saturday," Daniel Stringfellow said after Sunday's round.

The first place title was decided on the 18th hole, as Stringfellow tapped in for par to win the tournament by one stroke.  Stringfellow carded an even-par 71 on Sunday, which included three birdies and three bogeys, after shooting two-over on Saturday.

"I got off to a good start on Sunday and was rolling the ball well.  When we got to 18, I knew I was in contention for first, so I wanted to play it safe.  I love my 3 wood, so I decided to hit it off of the tee," Stringfellow said.

Blake Biddle had the low round of the tournament on Sunday, carding a two-under-par 69, but it was not enough to claim the title.  Biddle took second place with a two-day total of 145, making a great comeback from a first round score of 76.

Stephen Skurla from Wheaton, Ill. fired a one-over-par 72 (147) during the final round to force a playoff for third place with Lederhausen (71-76), in which Skurla eventually won.

"The course definitely played tough and the greens were rolling faster than I thought they would this early in the season," Stringfellow said.
